Members of the Port Community of the Bay of Algeciras (COMPORT) held a meeting with Víctor Jiménez, the highest authority of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), during the Annual Dinner of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), which took place in London during the international week dedicated to bunkering.
Representing COMPORT were the companies Pérez y Cía; EVOS; MOEVE; Península; Incargo Andalucía; Bacomar Logistic and Global Spares Logistics, as well as a representative from the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, who, in a context that brought together the main international actors in the maritime fuel supply sector, presented the situation in the area of the Strait of Gibraltar.
During the dinner, attendees discussed the gradual return of the main shipping lines to the Suez Canal route, an evolution that, as was pointed out, will have a very positive impact on the Port Community of the Bay of Algeciras, reinforcing its strategic position as a key hub in international maritime traffic and fuel supply.
This meeting coincided with the celebration of the IBIA Annual General Assembly, where the results of the elections for its Board of Directors were announced. In total, eleven candidates ran for four available positions, resulting in the election or reelection of Claudia Beumer (C4 fuel B.V.), Gianmichele Campanella (Fratelli Cosulich Monaco Sam), Calvin Chung (CPN – Chimbusco Pan Nation) and Nigel Draffin (consultant and professor), who will serve a three-year term.
The newly elected members will officially take office on April 1, 2026. From that date, the IBIA Board of Directors will be chaired by Adrian Tolson (2050 Marine Energy LLC), with Jeroen de Vos (Peninsula) as vice president and Mustafa Aslan (Asmira Group) as honorary treasurer, along with other prominent representatives from the energy and maritime sector globally.
The IBIA Annual Dinner 2026 was held at the iconic Grosvenor House Hotel, in Mayfair, London. Considered one of the most significant events on the bunkering industry calendar, this gala evening once again brought together IBIA members from around the world for an exclusive night of celebration, networking, and top-level hospitality.
