The National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) and the Chamber of Commerce of the Campo de Gibraltar will host the informational talk "SMEs in the crosshairs of hackers" on February 12, a free technical day aimed at raising awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises in the region about the growing risks in cybersecurity.

The initiative is part of the INCIBE Emprende program, within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, and is funded by the Next Generation-EU Funds. The event will take place in the morning at the Coworking Digital La Llave facilities, managed by the chamber entity.

During the session, cybersecurity experts will analyze how hackers currently operate, what the main entry points for malware into corporate networks are, and the most commonly used phishing techniques to compromise company systems, especially in the case of SMEs, which often have fewer protection resources.

As a distinguishing feature, all attending companies will receive a personalized report of their exposure on the Dark Web, which will allow them to check if credentials, email addresses, or sensitive data from the organization have been leaked and sold on illicit markets. This information will facilitate the adoption of immediate corrective measures to strengthen their digital security.

The day will be led by specialists from CIPHERBIT, the cybersecurity division of the OESÍA Group.

Strengthening business security

The president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Campo de Gibraltar, Carlos Fenoy, emphasized the importance of this type of action in a context of growing threats. "Through our collaboration with INCIBE in the INCIBE Emprende program, we are strengthening the security component in our entrepreneurial and business ecosystem, helping them protect their most valuable asset: information," he stated.

Fenoy also reminded that SMEs interested in reviewing their security systems can participate completely free of charge in the Express Acceleration program, an intensive and personalized 20-hour consulting with cybersecurity experts. Interested companies just need to get in touch with the Chamber of Commerce through their usual channels.

Registration to attend the talk remains open until full capacity is reached and can be done through the website of the Chamber of Commerce of the Campo de Gibraltar.
