The Port of Algeciras presents its work on green corridors in Alexandria as part of the Global Gateway strategy.

Luis Núñez, Head of Strategy and European Projects at the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), participated as a Keynote Speaker in the 15th edition of the International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (MARLOG 15), held in Alexandria at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). The congress organization itself announced his presence as part of the international lineup of invited experts to the event.

MARLOG 15, organized under the slogan "Smart & Resilient Logistics Corridors: Future Gateway to the Green Trade," brought together institutional leaders, public policy makers, and port innovation specialists to discuss the digital and sustainable transformation of the global logistics chain.

During his speech, Núñez addressed the importance of alignment among Mediterranean ports, using as an example the recent work carried out with Panama and the sustainability guidelines established by the European Union. The representative of the APBA also referred to the role of advanced digitalization in improving efficiency, predictability, and reducing the environmental impact in port operations.

The official program of the congress included high-level sessions and bilateral meetings between maritime authorities. In this context, the opportunity was taken to begin working on the next edition of the MEDPORTS TRAINING SEA-EU 2026, which will be dedicated to green corridors and clean energy. This training program has recently been integrated into the offerings of the University of Cádiz, which awards an official European title in a subject considered emerging and strategic for the future of maritime sustainability. The training is included as an official micro-credential within the SEA-EU Alliance, the European University Alliance.

At the same time, within the framework of MARLOG 15, the Port of Marseille Fos and the Port of Alexandria formalized in a working meeting the agreement reached in June 2025, by which a green corridor was being shaped that will also integrate the ports of Algeciras and Beirut.
