The Moeve Foundation has participated in a tree planting event in the area of 'Las Peñuelas', in the Natural Space of Doñana, alongside the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and a group of 1st and 2nd ESO students. The action is framed within the 'Doñana Renace' project, coordinated by Plant for the Planet, with the goal of restoring more than 10,000 hectares devastated by the summer 2017 fire.
In recent years, this initiative has allowed for the planting of 1.1 million specimens in the municipality of Moguer, contributing decisively to the environmental recovery of the area. Of these, 630,000 trees have been provided through an agreement with Plant for the Planet and nearly 100,000 through other collaboration agreements. In this context, the Moeve Foundation has played a prominent role since 2022, with the contribution of 152,300 trees —85,000 of them during this year— thus reinforcing the continuity and scope of the project.
During the visit, Moreno emphasized the importance of awareness and joint action to protect Andalusia's natural heritage. "What is happening is a result of climate change. On one hand, heat waves with prolonged droughts and fires, as happened in Las Peñuelas; on the other, trains of storms with heavy floods," he recalled. He also highlighted the essential role of young people in climate responsibility and emphasized the symbolism of the event held in the same location where the advanced technical unit of the Infoca Plan was installed to coordinate the fight against the 2017 fire.
For her part, the director of the Moeve Foundation, Teresa Mañueco, noted that the day reflects "life and resilience," and emphasized that biodiversity constitutes one of the priority action axes of the entity. "There is no social well-being without healthy ecosystems," she stated.
Finally, the foundation highlighted that, thanks to the funds obtained through its various funding sources, by the end of the current campaign it will have contributed to the restoration of a total of 454 hectares of high ecological value, thus consolidating its commitment to the recovery and protection of the Andalusian natural environment.
