Transporters and loaders will have access to an updated distance guide from any municipality in Spain to the Port of Algeciras, a tool that will facilitate the calculation of transit times to the port facility. This initiative is the result of collaboration between the Port Authority and the Container Transporters Association of the Bay of Algeciras (ATCBA), which has promoted the publication of a practical document for drivers to carry in their cabs and have the information readily available during their travels.
At the same time, the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras is working to facilitate digital access to this data and other relevant content that contributes to improving the quality of service and optimizing the transit of goods through port facilities. This action is part of a set of digital tools promoted by the institution, including the mobile application PASSAJERO, operational since 2023, which allows users of the maritime lines of the Strait to consult in real time information about their journey, such as ship schedules, the status of loading and unloading, the assigned docking number, the shipping company, or the ship that will cover the service.
The strengthening of these services coincides with the positive evolution of traffic. In 2025, container movements for import and export through the Port of Algeciras grew by 10%, while a total of 527,084 trucks crossed the Strait from these facilities, 4% more than the previous year.
In light of this scenario, the Port Authority continues to deploy the potential of the Hercules Plan with the aim of anticipating the expected increase in ro-ro traffic and consolidating the competitiveness of the enclave as a strategic logistics node in southern Europe.
