TheGibraltar Tourist Board, represented by the CEO for Tourism Product Development,Kevin Bossino, participated alongside the Dive Charters team at the fairGo Diving Show, held in theUnited Kingdom, with the aim of promoting the potential of the Rock as an international diving destination.
This event, considered the main diving exhibition in the country, brings together both industry professionals and enthusiasts and consumers each year. This year's edition recorded an increase in attendees compared to the previous one, reflecting the resilience of the sector and the growing enthusiasm for immersion experiences.
During the fair, the delegation fromGibraltarnoted a remarkable interest in the destination, which presents itself as an ideal platform for diving enthusiasts. The Rock has over 35 easily accessible wrecks and abundant marine life, making it a comfortable and unique place to practice this sport, with dive sites very close to the area's tourist, cultural, and leisure offerings.
The Minister of Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism,Christian Santos, emphasized the strategic relevance of this segment within the territory's tourism development. "Diving is one of the specialized market niches that we are actively developing within a broader tourism strategy, and Gibraltar is exceptionally well-positioned to take advantage of this opportunity," he stated.
As he explained, the confluence of theAtlantic Oceanand theMediterranean Sea, along with the territory's marine conservation policies, creates a nutrient-rich environment that favors diverse fauna. In this context, recreational diving is shaping up as a growing sector in which Gibraltar's international profile can gain greater recognition.
