The shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of 30% of the capital of Hutchison Laemchabang Terminal Limited (HLT), in an operation that reinforces its positioning in one of the most relevant logistics enclaves in Asia.
HLT plays a key role within the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand and operates several facilities at the Port of Laem Chabang, including the highly automated Terminal D, as well as terminals C1, C2, and A3. Its capacity and technological level make it a strategic partner for major international shipping companies.
With this investment, ONE seeks to ensure stable and competitive access to port capacity in a global context marked by volatility and congestion in supply chains. The operation also strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia, a key region for international maritime trade.
Hiroki Tsujii, global director of the Product and Networks division of ONE, highlighted that the operation "marks an important milestone" within the company's strategy to consolidate its presence in strategic logistics nodes. He also emphasized that HLT's advanced capabilities and its commitment to automation are aligned with ONE's focus on operational excellence and innovation.
The operation also reinforces the relationship between ONE and Hutchison Ports, one of the leading port operators globally, aiming to offer customers greater levels of reliability and efficiency in their services.
The closing of the transaction is subject to standard conditions, including the corresponding regulatory approvals. With this move, ONE joins the growing trend in the maritime sector of investing in port infrastructure to gain operational control and improve the resilience of its logistics networks.
