Ports of the State and six Spanish Port Authorities participate from this Tuesday until the next April 16 in Intermodal South America, one of the main fairs in the world in the field of logistics, cargo transport, and foreign trade, held in São Paulo (Brazil). The Spanish delegation is made up of the Port Authorities of Algeciras, Bilbao (through Uniport Bilbao), Barcelona, Las Palmas, Tenerife, and Valencia, which are located in the Spanish Pavilion, coordinated by ICEX and the Commercial Office of Spain in the Brazilian city.
The objective of the Spanish participation is to promote trade flows between the ports of the Spanish port system and Latin American markets. Throughout 2025, maritime exchanges between Spain and Latin America reached 60.6 million tons of goods. Brazil remains the main maritime trading partner of Spain in the region and the third globally, with a volume exceeding 28 million tons, representing 46.2% of the total goods moved with the whole of Latin America. Regarding container traffic with the host country, the figure reached 603,229 TEUs, 36.9% of the total containerized with the region.
The Spanish pavilion is presented at the fair under the slogan 'Together Forward. From our ports to any place you can imagine,' with the aim of conveying to Latin American operators the competitive advantages of the Spanish port system. Ports of the State has been working on strengthening cooperation with Latin America through signing agreements aimed at exchanging best practices and strengthening trade ties between both regions.
Spanish ports are fundamental pieces of the Trans-European Transport Network and position themselves as the main logistics hub in southern Europe for international trade in goods. The Spanish port system has a network of infrastructures that includes more than 340 kilometers of docks, nearly 100 million square meters of logistics area, and connections with over 200 ports around the world.
