The energy company, Moeve, has obtained the AENOR seal in accordance with the ISO/IEC 42001 standard, which endorses the safe, transparent, and responsible management of artificial intelligence within the company. This recognition highlights the company's strategy in the development and use of AI systems applied to industrial processes, reinforcing the trust of its stakeholders and positioning it at the forefront at the national level.
The ISO/IEC 42001 certification, recently created, certifies the implementation of an artificial intelligence management system that meets stringent requirements regarding risk minimization, quality controls, cybersecurity, and data protection, as well as the existence of governance policies and mechanisms that ensure responsible use of this technology.
The development of this system responds to the objective of providing the organization with a solid and structured framework that facilitates compliance with regulations in the field of artificial intelligence. In this regard, the ISO/IEC 42001 standard is being progressively adopted as a reference standard by a growing number of organizations at the international level. In line with its commitment to promote responsible artificial intelligence, Moeve has also become a pioneering company in the energy sector by certifying the complete lifecycle of an AI system aimed at optimizing the aviation fuel mix, encompassing all its phases: design, development, deployment, and use.
This recognition lays the groundwork for extending the use of this technology to other current and future processes related to the production of green molecules, including the second-generation biofuels plant that the company is building in Huelva or the development of the Andalusian Valley of Green Hydrogen.
David Liras, Chief Digital Information Officer of Moeve, has stated that "artificial intelligence is already transforming and driving major strategic projects of Moeve. AI provides us with a great opportunity to accelerate our objectives and we must ensure that it is done in a governed, responsible, and ethical manner."
For his part, Nicolás Henríquez, Director of Business Development at AENOR, has highlighted that obtaining this certification demonstrates that the company's artificial intelligence system has transparent and responsible management throughout its entire lifecycle, supported by processes aligned with best international practices.
This advancement is part of the Positive Motion strategy, Moeve's roadmap to drive the transformation of the energy sector and mobility with a focus on 2030. Within this plan, the company develops a comprehensive digital strategy that bets on technological innovation, the democratization of technology with a green digital approach, and the development of new capabilities in areas such as quantum computing.
