SUARDIAZ Group, through its division SUARDIAZ Energy, has formalized an agreement with Moeve to make the RS Onza, a chemical tanker of IMO2 class with capacity for the transportation of methanol, available to the energy company. The operation involves incorporating a new unit into the shipping group's fleet, thereby expanding its activity in the segment of alternative fuels for the maritime sector.
The RS Onza was recently delivered to SUARDIAZ in Singapore and is already operational in European ports, with Spain as the main area of activity. It is a vessel equipped with the latest technology for the transportation and delivery of new fuels, as indicated by Fernando Barreras, director of SUARDIAZ Energy: "The RS Onza is equipped with the latest technology for the transportation and delivery of new fuels."
Juan Riva, CEO of SUARDIAZ Group, referred to the agreement as a continuation of the historical relationship between both companies: "Our agreement with Moeve consolidates our historical relationship and is further proof of the confidence the energy sector places in us. Our extensive experience in the maritime sector and in bunkering supports us to continue providing responses with more innovative and sustainable solutions."
From Moeve, Samir Fernandez, director of Marine Solutions & Trading, has valued the incorporation of the new vessel as an additional step in the company's logistics strategy: "The incorporation of the RS Onza strengthens our capacity to develop more tailored logistics solutions for new fuels. This agreement with SUARDIAZ is another step in Moeve's roadmap to contribute to the decarbonization of maritime transport."
SUARDIAZ Energy structures its activity around two complementary business lines. On one hand, the Offshore area, focused on the operation of offshore vessels, and on the other, the Tankers division, dedicated to the operation of oil tankers, chemical tankers, and bunker barges, with operational units in Barcelona and Ceuta.
The company is carrying out various growth projects, including units under construction scheduled for 2027 and the design of an LNG bunker vessel. SUARDIAZ's strategy is oriented towards vessels with greater capacity and flexibility, suitable for transporting both petroleum-derived products and chemicals as well as new fuels demanded by the energy transition in the maritime sector.
The agreement between SUARDIAZ and Moeve occurs in a context where methanol is gaining ground as an alternative fuel in maritime transport. Various shipping companies have incorporated dual-fuel vessels capable of operating with methanol in recent years, leading to an increasing demand for logistical infrastructure for its supply in major European ports.
