The logistics platform in Zaragoza has a new operator specialized in intermodal container railway transport starting this week. Terminal Container Services Zaragoza begins its activity with the aim of becoming a reference node for container traffic on the peninsula, offering modern infrastructure open to all market operators under a model of operational neutrality that guarantees equitable access and competitive conditions for all players in the railway sector.
The new terminal has been designed to provide specialized services in container management, including loading and unloading refrigerated containers (reefer) and dry cargo, handling and storage at the terminal, coordinating railway operations, and associated logistics services for the supply chain. The facility is ready to manage both conventional merchandise and temperature-controlled cargo, ensuring traceability, control, and efficiency at all stages of the process.
The project is led by Tomás Pellisé, who takes on the general management role responsible for global supervision, strategic definition, commercial development, and client relations. Xavier Guillem will be in charge of operational strategic direction and development of relations with railway operators.
"Our goal is to build an open, efficient, and customer-oriented terminal, capable of naturally integrating into the logistics chain of any operator. We want to provide real value to the market, facilitating more competitive, agile, and sustainable intermodal solutions," Guillem has stated.
The location of the terminal in Zaragoza responds to strategic criteria. The Aragonese capital is situated at the confluence of the main peninsular logistics corridors, making it a key connection point between the Mediterranean front, northern Spain, and the peninsular center. This position allows for the optimization of routes and transit times, reduction of logistics costs, and promotion of more sustainable transport solutions based on rail. The operational model of the terminal is oriented towards multimodal integration, synchronizing rail, maritime, and land transport to maximize the efficiency of the logistics chain.
Terminal Container Services Zaragoza is a subsidiary of Barcelona Container Depot Services (BCDS), a company integrated into the Pérez y Cía. Group, which provides solid technical knowledge in container management, especially in the refrigerated cargo segment. With this new terminal, the group continues to expand its presence in the realm of intermodal logistics infrastructures.
