The University of Cádiz (UCA) and the Technological Campus Foundation of Algeciras have opened the call for the II RH₂Enovables Congress for Industrial De-fossilization, RH₂EDIN 2026, a specialized meeting on renewable energies, green hydrogen, and energy transition that will be held on October 28 and 29 at the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSIA), located on the Bahía de Algeciras Campus.
The congress aims to bring together researchers, professionals, and companies linked to the green hydrogen and clean energy industry to address advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the de-fossilization and decarbonization process of the industrial and port fabric. Furthermore, the forum seeks to promote synergies among the different stakeholders involved in the energy transition.
The first edition of the event, held in October 2025 and promoted by the vice-rectorate of the Bahía de Algeciras Campus with funding from the Cádiz Provincial Council, gathered more than 200 attendees from the national and international fields, included the participation of more than 40 entities, and hosted the presentation of over 80 communications. This data positions the new edition as a reference meeting to analyze the situation of green hydrogen and renewable energies within the framework of energy transition in Andalusia and Spain.
In the last edition, companies and institutions such as Moeve, Acerinox, EDP, H2site, the Port Authority of Bahía de Algeciras, the Association of Large Industries of the Campo de Gibraltar, and Evos, among others, participated as sponsors.
The RH₂EDIN 2026 program is structured around seven thematic areas: advances in solar and wind energy; emerging renewables; processes for the production of renewable hydrogen; advances in hydrogen storage and transport; processes for the production of renewable molecules; Power-to-Power technologies and fuel cells; and investment and maintenance in energy transition.
These contents will be developed over several sessions of scientific communications distributed in different spaces of the ETSIA, three plenary conferences led by top-level experts, and a poster exhibition. The closing conference will be led by Dr. Vicente Cortés, professor at the University of Seville, co-founder and honorary president of INERCO, who received the National Award for Industrial Engineering in 2023 for his professional career.
The first deadline for researchers and professionals to present their scientific communications or projects, both in oral format and as posters, has been opened today through an initial call (Call for abstracts) at a reduced price and will remain open until May 15. Subsequently, two more registration periods will be enabled, which will conclude on July 15. Those interested in attending the congress can also formalize their registration from today via the event's website,https://rh2edincongreso.com/, where all information related to the program, fees, and participation conditions is available.
