Total Logistic and the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) participated last Monday in the business meeting held in Miami to promote the creation of a direct airline between Seville and the United States. The event, organized by the City Hall of Seville and Club Victoria, brought together companies and institutions from both sides of the Atlantic with the aim of gathering international support for this air connectivity initiative.
From Total Logistic, its CEO, Javier Martínez, attended, while representative of the APBA was Nicolás Jesús Andión Martínez, head of the Business Development and Marketing Area of the Port of Algeciras. The presence of both entities linked to the logistics sector of the Campo de Gibraltar reflects the interest that a direct connection between Andalusia and the United States could generate for the entire logistics chain of southern Spain.
Total Logistic, which was in Miami for its participation in Seatrade Cruise Global, expressed its support for the project, considering that a direct air connection between Seville and Miami would help optimize supply chains between southern Europe and the United States, promote trade and foreign investment, and position Andalusia as a reference logistics node in the Atlantic.
The meeting, conceived as a continuation of the one held last December at the Colón Hall of the City Hall of Seville, was presided over by the delegate of Tourism and Culture of the Seville City Council, Angie Moreno. During her speech, Moreno emphasized the importance of the project for the future of the city. "Seville is ready to take this leap. This connection is not just infrastructure, it is an opportunity to strengthen our economy, open new markets to our companies, and consolidate our position on the global map," she affirmed.
The delegate added that "this event in Miami represents a decisive step in a strategy that arises from the consensus between institutions and the business fabric, showing Seville's ambition to strengthen ties with the United States through cooperation and mutual trust."
The event also featured the intervention of Jorge Molinero, representing Club Victoria, who detailed the origin and development of the Business Manifesto for the Promotion of the Seville-United States Air Connection. Molinero explained the first phase of the project, developed in Seville, as well as the objectives of this new phase focused on the internationalization of business support.
At the event held at the end of last year in the Andalusian capital, presided over by Mayor José Luis Sanz, more than 220 companies joined the manifesto, representing strategic sectors such as industry, technology, agri-food, logistics, and services. Among the signatory companies are Persán, Acesur, Iturri, Mediaset, and Migasa. Club Victoria has been the entity responsible for articulating this business support, consolidating an alliance that is now projected towards the U.S. market with the goal of generating new collaboration and investment opportunities.
The United States is currently the main international sending market for Seville, with 256,137 travelers so far this year and more than 600,451 overnight stays, figures that underline the need to improve direct connectivity with this strategic destination.
From the City Council of Seville, they have pointed out that this future air connection would not only contribute to quality tourism, but would also facilitate the internationalization of Seville companies, promote the development of business tourism and position the city as a strategic linking point between Europe and America.
